Pelican Paddlers is a group of
paddling enthusiasts ranging from the long term expert to absolute beginner. We welcome anyone wanting
to take up or pursue an interest in kayaking and canoeing.
Meetings
are generally held on the first Wednesday of the month. Paddle trips are decided upon at meetings
and different members volunteer as trip leaders. Trips
range from a few hours on the water to overnight ventures. Paddle sites include placid rivers and lakes,
white water, and the open water of the Gulf of Mexico. For those of
competitive spirit we also have a few good natured races.
Through the spring and summer months we meet on Wednesday evenings
for informal get-togethers where we practice new skills, do a little casual paddling and some of the new members are
doing some salfwalter fishing. Pelican Paddlers has something to offer members of all
skill and interest levels. We hope that you will join us for fun and adventure in Southwest Louisiana!
Membership
dues are $40 per year for an individual or $50 per year for a family. Members may attend meetings, vote, and propose
and lead trips. Club
fees cover membership to the American Canoe Association (ACA). Among other benefits, the ACA membership includes an annual
subscription to Paddler Magazine.
